What is Fusion?
In simple terms – it’s a development environment for our Set Top Media Centers. Now that’s novel – a user programmable set top!
However, before you move away from this page with visions of an army of embedded C++ programmers, let us set your mind at rest. Fusion has a wide range of development environments, depending on what you actually want to do.
Develop HTML-based middleware
Fusion supports the WebKit browser and the ANT Galio HTML-based operating software and offers a huge range of JavaScript extensions for media and system control. Support for AJAX standards enables highly effective client-server database applications to be developed. Full support is offered for RSS.TV standards.
Get a little Flashy
Fusion supports Adobe Flash 6 (ActionScript 2) - perfect for user interfaces with a little more flair than simple HTML. There are also links from the Flash player to the video codecs allowing direct support of YouTube and other Flash-based video sites.
Java Virtual Machine
CompleteTV’s Fusion software uses a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) to provide a secure and reliable interface to the underlying system hardware and software, allowing application software to be written in manner that is largely independent of the fine detail of hardware systems. The instruction-level security policy provided the JVM allow strict access rights to applications and configuration scripts, and the ability for an author to “sign” a configuration script means that only validated changes will be applied to the system
Add media applications to the Linux STMC
For advanced Linux programmers we offer an SDK and development environment to enable you to build and port new applications with ease. The extensive CTV player application provides all the hooks you need to manage your specific media applications.

Depending on what you want to do, Fusion provides the development tools, documentation, training and support for your development team. At CompleteTV we know we can’t possibly develop all the applications the market needs for IPTV services – Fusion allows us to share our technology with the world and extend the uses of the STMC to applications even we can’t envisage today.
